The Challenge
ABlyft is continuously working to improve the platform and enhance the user experience. This primarily includes developing new features that strengthen existing functionality, are entirely new, or complement features already in place. While some priorities are clear, it is more difficult to decide which tasks should take precedence for other features. However, prioritization is essential in order to plan and allocate IT resources efficiently. That is why ABlyft, together with PollHero, launched a survey within their platform to capture their customers’ opinions.
The questions & the result
The questionnaire for the feature survey was kept simple: just three questions are enough to obtain results that truly help ABlyft and support the weighting of the features to be developed.
For reasons of discretion, we have censored the features for this case study.
- Which new features would you like to see on ABlyft? (Long free text)
- Which of these features would you like to see next?
- Feature A
- Feature B
- Feature C
- Other
- Which of these features could you most easily do without?
- Feature A
- Feature B
- Feature C
- Other
If the free-text question is placed at the beginning, the likelihood is higher that customers will contribute their own ideas instead of repeating multi-select answers. The answers were displayed in a randomized order to rule out bias—for example, that the first answer is often chosen because the first position implies it is the most important.
The result: ABlyft’s customers are in agreement.
Feature C, at 57.8%, is the most frequently selected answer to question 2. The feature was also mentioned frequently in the free-text responses to question 1.
The responses to question 3 align with the result: with 10.2% of responses, Feature C comes in last place. In other words, this feature really cannot be omitted.
Overall, the distribution for question 2 was as follows:
- Feature C: 57.8%
- Feature A: 26.9%
- Feature B: 15.3%
The result helped ABlyft efficiently focus their IT resources on the feature preferred by customers. Thanks to the straightforward prioritization of topics, the features can also be developed and rolled out faster. A complete success!
